Seascapes

Living on the coast, overlooking the most westerly tip of Long Island with the Atlantic beyond, I am continually drawn to the ever-changing panorama created by the particular weather conditions unique to West Cork; the haze that descends and lifts again; the horizon where the ocean meets the sky sometimes blurs and at other times is sharply defined the light and water create hues of blues and pinks, especially at the beginning and close of the day; the tides altering the direction of the rippling water; the high winds tossing the sea surface to oblivion; the shafts of rain or sunlight that hit the islands and sea. And how on the dullest, stormiest day, the colour palette reduces to three oil paints - paynes grey, titanium white and sepia.
